The village center of Middlebury is home to local restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops, clothing boutiques, markets, bookstores, thrift stores, and other unique shopping experiences. Arts & Culture

The Town Hall Theater is a beloved cornerstone of the town. Located in the heart of the village, this historical theater offers performing arts classes and exciting theatrical and musical performances. Meanwhile, the Middlebury College campus hosts enriching cultural and arts opportunities for community members. The Middlebury College Museum of Art offers expansive art collections and diverse temporary exhibits, while the Mahaney Arts Center is home to a vibrant performing arts series. Elsewhere in town, history buffs will enjoy the Vermont Folklife Center and the Henry Sheldon Museum. The Marquis Theater, located in our downtown, provides an outlet for movie lovers and those with a taste for Mexican food.

Recreation

Middlebury offers incredible access to the outdoors with the Trail Around Middlebury, 19 miles of trails that circle the town and connect hundreds of acres of land. Go for a hike or a mountain bike ride within its many intersecting loops. Interested in cross country or alpine skiing? Get your fix at Middlebury Snowbowl and Rikert Outdoor Center — only 20 minutes outside of town. The Middlebury Recreation Center features tennis and pickleball courts, basketball courts, an outdoor pool, an indoor ice skating rink, and an indoor gym that houses many activities. An indoor tennis facility and two fitness centers are in town, as well. And if spectating is more your speed, you can cheer on the Panthers at numerous sporting events at Middlebury College.

Medical Care

Porter Medical Center is part of the University of Vermont Health Network. It is comprised of a 25-bed acute care facility and a 105-bed skilled nursing facility which includes a memory care unit, short-term rehabilitation unit, and a long-term care unit. Porter operates a network of primary care and specialty medical practices throughout the region, as well as an infusion center and an urgent care center. An Express Care option is located on the Porter Medical Center campus handling more immediate, non-urgent needs.
